There's a take-out sushi franchise that's just opened in the traditional market near my apartment. It's notable for a couple reasons:

1. You can get the 'Special Set' pictured above for 9,900 won -- that's 24 pieces of very edible fast-food grade sushi for 8-ish bucks. I couldn't even finish it all. It comes with a traditional Pepsi, too.

2. The franchise seems to be playing up its Japanese roots -- plenty of claims about its authentic 'Rippon Feel', and signs referring to it as sushi rather than the far more Korean chobap (same thing, different name). It's the second place I've been in Korea that's really playing up its Japan-ness. Curious, considering the traditional feelings of Koreans toward that island to the east. Times, are they a-changing?

Anyway, I've got a new place to eat now.
