Maybe I'm insane.
I just had to run this by everyone, to see if I'm crazy or not.

I've got this series of Japanese language CDs. It contains two parts: a Learn at Home section, where you follow along with a big book, and an On the Go section, where you put the CD in your Discman/iPod/Whatever and repeat to yourself on the subway, so that you look like you have Tourette's Syndrome. So far so good.

The thing is, I've listened to the same dialogue so many times, I've started to look for subtext. For instance, there's this one section I've probably played 50 times already:

Woman 1: Ah, Yamada-san. Konnichiwa.
Man: Konnichiwa! Shibaraku desu ne?
Woman 1: So desu ne. Ah, kochira wa watashi no tomodachi desu. Toda-san desu.
Man 1: Yamada desu. Hajimemashite.
Woman 2: Hajimemashite...

Now, you kind of have to hear it for yourself, but that Woman #2 sounds really interested in Mr. Yamada...just the way that hajimemashite rolls out, you can totally envision her doing that thing where women touch their neck like they're digging on a dude's style. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they hooked up in the near future.
